Visual Art Faculty

Linda Illumanardi - is Orme's new Fine Arts Department Chair. Linda is originally from Vermont, and comes to Orme with a rich background in the visual arts, having studied painting and the history of Modernism for her Master's thesis. With a major in Education, and a minor in Psychology, Linda says she sees herself as an unusual artist who is a bit of an 'education nerd." Linda also shares that she loves the process of teaching as much as she loves creating art.

Pam Teskey - is our Photography teacher. She lives on a working cattle ranch in Dugas, AZ, where the beautiful Arizona high desert area provides her with a supply of never ending photographs to capture. Pam states, “My passion in life is being with my family and working with many different forms of photography. My passion began with photography fifteen years ago after my oldest daughter was born.” Pam believes that the foundation of Photography starts in the darkroom, where she has worked for over ten years and has developed a strong appreciation for black and white photography. She has also worked with several mediums which include Cyanotype, Polaroid transfers, Polaroid lifts, Black and White film and Digital. She also believes that it is important for all students to understand the history of photography and covers this in her classes. “Teaching photography at Orme is like being in my backyard, and sharing the environment with students is very rewarding.”

Ruth and John Waddell Lecture and Art Series

The Ruth and John Waddell Lecture and Art Series is sponsored generously by a grant from The Hilby Family of Phoenix. The Hilbys have supported the arts for many years at The Orme School. Their son Joe Hilby, who graduated from Orme in 2005, is currently a college student at Albertson’s University in Boise, Idaho. During Joe’s five years as a student at Orme, the Hilbys were strong supporters of the art department and art enrichment programs.

Inspired by the direction and growth of the Orme School’s art department, the Hilbys gave The Orme School a ten year grant to seed the Ruth and John Waddell Art and Lecture Series. Inspired by Ruth and John Waddell’s dedication to the arts in Arizona, the Hilby family felt that this grant would act as a seed for others to join with them and build an endowment for the arts that would guarantee an annual lecture and art series of world renowned artists here on the Orme campus.

The first three events planned this year are: a visit from the Arizona Opera on Friday September 11th to perform scenes from Giacomo Puccini's "La Boheme", Arizona Shakespeare Festival who will perform "Much Ado About Nothing" on Monday October 5th, and the Yavapai College Chamber Singers who will perform on campus Friday October 16th.
