Drama and Theater

Faculty Bil Zeleny (Orme’s CFO) is running the Theater Program this year. He has directed both off-Broadway and off-off Broadway, with plays at the Sanford Meisner, Bank Street, Westbeth, Cherry Lane, 47th Street, and Pyramid Theaters. His experience includes productions where he directed, produced, did lighting design and choreography and, in one strange instance, was the chief bottle washer (well, maybe we better not get into that). For two years he created and ran the successful Conspiracy Theater Company in New York State. Bil has been involved in both the theater and film industries, working with such diverse individuals as “Weird Al” Yankovic to George Burns; from Glenn Fry to Michael Jackson; and from Tim Robbins to Michael Lazarou, to drop just a few names. In 1994, Bil was on the production team which won an Emmy for PSA’s, “
The Smoke Free Class of 2000.” This year's theater activity is meeting Monday and Wednesday evenings. They are planning a Fall play to be produced in November, and will also perform at some of Orme's monthly Coffee Houses.

In the Giving Spirit
It seems as though every year we clean and organize our homes for Fall in preparation for the holidays and we end up with a pile of items we are not quite sure what to do with. Well, you can always donate them to The Orme School of Arizona! In addition to our annual fund needs for operations (approximately $15,000 to $20,000 a year), every year the Fine Arts Department has a wish list for slightly used items you might have in your attic, closet or garage sale box.

Drama Needs
Power tools, saws, sanders, hand tools, hammers, screw drivers, wrenches, socket set, drills, table saws, chop saws, compressors, paint gun, nail gun, anything you might find in a wood working or machine shop would be fabulous!
Sewing machines, thread, needles, patterns, and old shoes, uniforms, dress suits, tuxedos, ties, hats, jewelry, wigs, things for our new costume shop.
Any tools that would be appropriate for, lighting, set building prop construction.
If you have furniture, household items, lamps, framed pictures, clocks, kitchen stuff, glasses, and/or dishes we could use on our sets.
If you have something you think we might be able to use that’s not on the list, please feel free to send it along! Your friendship and support of Orme’s Fine Arts Department is essential to our on going needs and dedication to excellence in educating Orme students in the Arts. We appreciate any item you could send our way. Thank you and happy cleaning!
